About the Imperium Series
It took me a while to regain my momentum, but my novel Scintilla has gone through its revision. Scintilla is a Sci-Fi novel about three cultures in collision. On one hand, you have the mighty Imperium. You also have the backwater world of Copa, with its aristocrats and peasants. Its fundamental question is about freedom.

An Argument for the Warrior
Think about the food chain for a moment. Herbivores graze all day long on relatively nutrient-poor plants. They have huge guts (intestinal tracts) to extract as much of the nutrition as possible for their bodies. Day after day they spend nearly all of their time grazing. Then along comes a predator and aggressively pins down and eats one of the herbivores. Bam!
All of the nutrients that were so gradually and constantly accumulated in the tissues of the plant-eater become instant nutrition for the carnivore. It may be hard to witness, but the bloody feast is so rich in nutrients that the carnivore doesn't have to eat for a comparatively long time.
Now, the price of this lifestyle is that carnivores have to be cognizant and clever. They have evolved in more ways than just forward facing eyes toward this end. Bigger, often highly intelligent brains may be energetically costly to maintain, but they help plan attacks and score meaty meals. Such feasts allow for days or even weeks "off" to do other things… mate, take care of young, form complex social groups, learn, go bowling, etc.
Do I have to tell you who is the herbivore and who is the carnivore in Astro Empires?

What's with the #@$& Questionnaire?
Okay, so if you're coming to this site, odds are you're coming to look at one of the handle AE guides I've published. Simply put, I'm trying to figure out whether I'm doing right by you in my guides, or what more should I be doing?
Additionally, my overall goal is to try to entice you into Science Fiction. The Lexicon RPG was a fun way to play with Sci-Fi, and I'm looking for more contributors. And, of course, I'm writing novels, so I'm hoping you'll be interested in reading them when finished.
Simple.
If you completed the questionnaire, thank you. If not, I still thank you for coming to the site.

Prings in Seven Weeks? Unsinn!
Consider Patton's adage: “No man-made defense is defensible.” Or Nathan Bedford Forrest's maxium, “A good offense is the best defense.” Astro Empires has combat as its core. While a good offense is always wanted, being able to build strong defenses allows you to maintain a good offense. On five servers, I've built prings in scant weeks, roughly 50 days.

How Can I Make Espace Useful to You?
It is the beginning of yet another year on Everyspace Society. Looking at the content generated over the past six years, and looking at the traffic we receive now, I chose to post this inaugural article for Astro Empires visitors.

New Skin
If you are a regular, then you may notice a slightly lighter site design than previously used. The previous design served E-Space Society for the past few years. I forget if it was four or five years.
Retooling the Timeline
After nearly a year hiatus, E-space Society is considering reforming to re-write the timeline. After the timeline is revised, we will likely move on to another lexicon game.

Lexicon Progressing Smoothly
On June 30, 2005, we finished our first run through the Lexicon. We wrote over 100 entries during that time. Since then, we have begun to go back through the various letters to complete the phantom entries that we created and were not able to write under the rules of the game.

The Story So Far
Our effort started in February, 2004 and we took a pause in July 2004. In December 2004, we resumed and this site was built. In January 2005, we began tinkering with a Lexicon called the Macropedia. We weren't sure what to expect, but in the first five months we produced over one-hundred articles detailing the period known as the Imperium. The structure of the Lexicon has helped us keep going.
